The 5th annual UALC 7 Day Bible Art Challenge awarded artists from the Columbus, Ohio area with the top 3 adult artists receiving cash prizes, two honorable mentions, and all 5 children receiving ribbons. The passage from the Bible was John 21:3-7 for youth, and John 21:15-19 for adults.
Leading the pack was Bob Apel with his haunting, wide aspect drawing of the eyes of Jesus and Peter, as Jesus asks, "Do you love me?" His first-place entry was created using pencil on mylar, enlarged and then printed.
Mike Larson received his second place ribbon for the acrylic "Feed My Sheep. In several frames it illustrates different aspects of the whole John 21 story.
Sandy Kao's 3rd place watercolor is called "Take Care of My Sheep," with a pasture full of sheep tended by "a girl figure as a shepherd to remind myself and my two daughters that we may be weak, but God's power and light shine around us."
Earning honorable mention ribbons aere Deb Haller for "The Flock", and Carlos Lemos, the 2020 winner, with "Stretch Out Your Hands For Love."
In the children's category, an Outstanding Achievement ribbon in K-3rd Grade was earned by first grader Melody Chia. Willilam and Samantha Meisterheim both received "Art Achievement" ribbons for their renditions of John 21:6. In the 4-7th grade category, Waverly Snare received an Outstanding Achievement for the acrylic "The Miracle," and in the 8-12th grade category, Bronwyn Snare received Outstanding Achievement for the 3D illustration of the miraculous catch called "Jesus Returns."
All artwork will be on display at the UALC Mill Run Campus through June 9, 2022.

At the Awards Reception, the dates for the 2023 event were announced: Entry deadline February 12, 2023, art production week Feb 15-22, 2023, and Awards Reception March 5.
